Howard G. Katz
Mr. Katz's practice includes corporate law and the representation of institutional lenders with regard to real estate, asset based and commercial lending, loan workouts, and foreclosures. Mr. Katz counsels his corporate clients on general business matters and prepares and negotiates various agreements on their behalf, including employment, non-competition, confidentiality, consulting, and purchase and sale contracts, bank financing arrangements, and software licensing and maintenance agreements.
Mr. Katz graduated with Honors from The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in political science, and received a National Science Foundation Fellowship to attend Columbia University, from which he received M.A. and M. Phil. degrees in political science. After teaching political science in the City University system, Mr. Katz attended Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey and received his J.D. with highest honors.
Mr. Katz started in the practice of law in 1979, at the law firm of Clapp & Eisenberg in Newark, New Jersey. He practiced corporate law in the private sector until 1990, when he joined NatWest Bank, N.A. as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel. Mr. Katz remained at NatWest until 1994, when he joined Herold Law, P.A. as a shareholder and director.
Community Involvement:
Since 1998, Mr. Katz has served both as general counsel and as a member of the executive committee and the board of trustees of the United Way of Somerset County.
